The Response - More than Black
The history of being an African American is rooted in words, descriptions, definitions and names. It is in this that a nation of people has categorized, marginalized and dissected my people.
As Defined by a Nation (by Angela Barrett)
Slave
Defined
as a mule disguised as a human mimic; can be identified by the blackness of
their skin and the lack of intellect. [Note: can be scientifically proven that
these creatures are insignificant].
Colored
Defined
as one with too much in contrast to those with just enough. Unaware of their
station, subject to demanding when we are not willing to give, passion
perceived as violence and a need to exist as free although their existence is
defined as ‘enslavement’.
Black
Defined
as one who mimics darkness, the quality of NOT existing, the quality of NOT being
wanted, the quality of NOT. Also representative of disease, infestation, taint,
filth, and the physical representation of purgatory – not to be touched, not to
be loved, not to be seen. [Note: to keep civility, they have been lied to, told
they are human but the nation knows the truth.]
African
American
Defined
as one who is not American although they live in America. The term has been ‘taken
back’ by those creatures, but still represents the state of not belonging (as
recognized by the nation). [Note:
Recently, we have seen a wave of resistance; we constantly beat them back, but
the fight continues…no plans on file to rid the nation of them permanently.]
